LaReau Lops & Cavies is a small rabbitry located in south central Wisconsin. Up until June 2007 we were known for the quality French Lops my daughter Kelly raised and showed plus some nice Holland Lops from the old Wardlow line.
Unfortunately, Kelly recently decided to get out of rabbits and just sold the last remnants of what used to be a successful, thriving French Lop rabbitry. We still have LaReau’s Thunder - he’s a permanent resident here, and we decided to keep Garrett’s Star too.
I suppose that if I ever felt the urge to show these huge rabbits, I could start out with the offspring from these two - they are both wonderful representatives of their breed and each ones’ strengths compliment the others’ weaknesses. If I don’t ever breed these two for their offspring, they will both just enjoy retirement here.
We also raise Hollands Lops, primarily of the Wardlow/Yellow River Acres lineage and I’ll pick up breeding more Hollands this coming fall now. Jody and I technically co-own some of the Hollands - he is no longer interested in showing, but doesn’t want to give up his rabbits. That is fine with me as long as he continues doing rabbit chores. . . . . .
I also just started raising Polish in late 2006 and in fact have my first litters now, June 2007.
With the sale of our French Lops, our rabbitry is sure to undergo a major transformation - especially with me being the only one breeding and showing rabbits now - my kids are just too busy with teenage life!
Be sure to visit our blog often for up to date news about my rabbitry! Soon I’ll begin working on the LaReau Lops & Cavies website and posting news here on a more-regular basis. I also have some decisions to make about our other informative rabbit website - we’ll see what turns up!!
